Moudou and Amanetta’s Story: A Tale of Resilience and Survival
In 2024, Moudou took the dangerous “back way” journey, attempting to reach Italy by boat. Tragically, the vessel capsized, and most of the 30–40 people aboard perished. Moudou was one of just ten survivors, rescued and sent back to The Gambia.
During the chaos, he was pierced by a metal object, an injury he didn’t realize was life-threatening. Over time, a piece of metal remained lodged inside him, leading to a severe infection.
Months later, their father was approached by a man from Turkey claiming to be from a charity. He promised to sponsor Moudou and his sister Amanetta, enrolling them in university. Desperate for a future, their father agreed. But instead of an education, the siblings were trafficked into domestic slavery.
They eventually escaped and were left stranded, without support or resources. Moudou’s untreated injury worsened, threatening his life.
That’s when The Beryl & Winford Manning Foundation stepped in.
Through your support, the foundation was able to:
✅ Pay for Moudou’s hospital bills, saving his life
✅ Fund their first year of university tuition through a sponsored run done by Dion Manning
✅ Provide basic support like food and shelter
Now, we urgently need your help to continue supporting Moudou and Amanetta with food, rent, and clothing.
Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference. Donate today to help them survive and rebuild their lives.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
