Together, We Can Create Brighter Futures for The Gambia

About The Gambia

The Gambia is a small country in West Africa, among the world’s poorest and with few natural resources except its people. Of whom most are subsistence farmers, although the cities and towns are growing.

The country has an extensive public school system, and classes are taught in English. The Gambia’s education sector is expanding annually, and this poses a challenge to the government to meet the growing funding requirements to match this steady growth in terms of classrooms, learning materials and teachers, thousands of children are still not enrolled in primary school; girls, children from poor families, and those from rural areas are at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to schooling.

Unfortunately, school is not free. Although the World Bank is subsidizing school fees in for public schools, students must buy uniforms, buy their own books and supplies, and may also be asked to pay a variety of small fees. The cost to pay all expenses for an elementary school child for one year is only $37.50.

The Gambia

We are an organization that helps families and children from disadvantaged backgrounds in The Gambia. A non-government, voluntary, non-profit and humanitarian organization, whose main aim is to enhance life quality of children, youth and families, as well as to create the conducive environment for every child to realize his or her right to education.

In matters health, the Levels of maternal mortality in the Gambia are unacceptably high and are ranked among the highest in Africa, estimated at 1,050 per 100,000 live births and are higher in rural than in urban areas. As an organization we are supporting hospitals with medical supplies and various donations
